Mr Mumuni Shiraz Ibn Yacin, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Central Gonja has appealed to people to support the street naming and property addressing programme to accelerate development.
He said all was set for the street naming and property addressing exercise to take off in the Central Gonja District and stressed the need for all residents to embrace the process to ensure its success.
Mr Yacin told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that a public forum would soon take place at Buipe to formally announce the commencement of the exercise, and to seek suggestions from the public to ensure that no one opposed the proposed names attached to streets and properties.
He said street naming was the most vivid way of giving directions and the easiest way of revenue mobilization, which would facilitate development in all aspects and indicated that the Central Gonja District was within the September 30th deadline.
The DCE said the mappings and all the proposed names for the streets and properties had been completed and that what was left was the physical assigning of the names.
He said in the area of demography, Buipe, Yapei, Kusawgu and other developing communities in the district had been enumerated and added that the exercise would ensure harmonization, consistency, efficiency and standardization in the District.
Mr Yacin advised developers to plan well before constructing houses to make it easier for numbering and direction saying, “The era where we build houses any how is over.”
He stated that Buipe was the boiling pot of the Northern Region since there were investment potentials in the areas of aquaculture, farming and estate development.
“The presence of the Diamond Cement factory, the sheanut processing factory and the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) depot opens the area up for more investments, he added.
