Let’s unite to achieve President Mills’s visions – GNAT

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has said the only way Ghanaians could show appreciation to late President John Evans Atta Mills was to make his vision become a reality.

Mr. Thomas Baafi, the General Secretary in-charge of Education and Professional Development of GNAT, told the GNA that the late President placed premium on quality education.

He said reactions to President Mills’ death showed how Ghanaians recognized and appreciated his contributions to national development and this is why partisan politics should not be played with issues of national interest.

Mr. Baafi said the education sector saw improvement and registered an unprecedented improvement in infrastructure and human resource during the three –and-half years of late President Mills’ administration.

He said although many schools that studied under trees benefited from classroom blocks, as well as adequate teaching and learning, there still remained huge deficit in the education sector.

Mr. Baafi expressed the optimism that all the key actors in the education sector would collaborate to help reform the country’s education sector that was the prime concern of the late President.

He paid tribute to the late president for his sense of humor and the high sense of nationalism he exhibited both in his political and private life.**
