The National Disaster Management Organisation in the Ashanti region has indicated that it is helpless in dealing with the extent of damage recorded after last Thursday’s storm.

The regional office of NADMO is currently collating reports from all municipalities and districts in the region where buildings were affected.

Ashanti Regional NADMO coordinator Kwabena Nsenkyire discloses that public schools were the hardest hit with Kumasi alone recording 15 schools having their roofs ripped off.

He told host of the Ultimate Breakfast Show Julius Caesar Anadem, “Looking at the volume of the disaster that has occurred, it’s beyond the NADMO.”

“I have met with the MMDCEs and my district directors and I have asked them to bring their reports. As I am talking to you now, I have received some of the reports and from the 10 to 15 schools we have visited in the Ashanti region so far, what we saw was an eyesore,” he described.

Mr Nsenkyire disclosed that his outfit has begun meeting the District Assemblies Common Fund administrator and the GETFund Administrators to mobilize resources to fix the school buildings to avert any disruptions to ongoing examinations.
