Locations in Ho to be easier to trace

Anyirawase, Nov 28, GNA - The Ho Municipal Assembly, is designating streets and alleys and renumbering houses, to make it easier for people especially visitors to trace their destinations, Mr Leonard Kokorokoh, Presiding Member of the Assembly has said. He said the project being carried out in collaboration with two cities in Canada and one city in Sweden under a Sister City Deal would also cover the Awudome-Tsito area. Mr Kokorokoh who was addressing a public forum at Anyirawase organized for parliamentary candidates for the Ho-West Constituency, said when completed the project would assist people to find their way about easily in the municipality. He said this would also facilitate home delivery of letters and parcels.

Mr Kokorokoh said the city of Javenpeh, Sweden, is helping the Assembly establish a data base; including identifying taxable people, while Montreal and Victoria in Canada, were helping with the demarcations and markings of addresses. Mr Kokorokoh said people could bid to have some specific names given to avenues or streets for historic or other reasons. Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzra, a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Mr Foster Segbe, Teacher, Convention People's Party (CPP), who attended the forum answered questions on raising standards of education in the area, job creation and issues related to local governance among others. Mr Mawutor Goh, Ho Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Mr Alfred Deletsu, Teacher, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) failed to attend the forum. 28 Nov 08
