The Ghana Marine Police have extended their surveillance in the coastal part of the capital to the Chorkor beach, as part of measures to ensure that the lockdown directives are complied to by residents.

Security patrol in the community has increased following Ghanaweb’s report on Sunday about how residents in the community had ignored the President’s lockdown directives, to chill at the beach on Easter Sunday.

Most recent to join the team of security patrol officers to enforce the lockdown is the Ghana Marine Police. Other security teams in the community include the personnel from the Ghana Police Service and the Military.

The Ghana Marine Police, who were four in number at the beach earlier today surveyed the area using two of their four-wheeled motorcycles at the Chorkor beach.

According to one personnel who spoke to Ghanaweb on the basis of anonymity, the team carried out a similar patrol in Tema and its environs before making their way to the Chorkor beach.

At the time of filing this story, there were some fish mongers who were washing their fishing baskets whiles the fishermen were busily mending their nets under a shed. The fisherfolk had positioned a handwashing bucket at the entrance of the shed.

The Marine team who were professional with their work did not physically abuse anyone at the beach but rather advised some of the commuters loitering around the beach to return and stay home.
