Lord Commey predicts 170 seats for NPP

Gomoa Dago (C/R), April 30, GNA- Mr Lord Commey, National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has predicted that the party would win 170 parliamentary seats in the December Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He pointed out that the party was not complacent, and would continue to work harder to achieve the target. Mr Lord Commey who was speaking at the Gomoa West Delegates Conference at Gomoa Dago to elect a candidate to contest the parliamentary seat in the constituency.

He stressed that the national, regional and constituency executives were well prepared to face the task ahead.

Mr Joe Kingsley Hackman, a lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology polled 36 votes out of the 119 votes to beat four other contestants.

Mr Fred Oscar Abban polled 31 votes, Ms Sarah Arthur, 30, John Tawiah Manful 11, and Alexander Abban had 8 votes, while three executives were absent.

Mr Commey reiterated that the party would never impose any candidate on members of the party, but would rather allow them to decide on their own to ensure true democracy in the party.

The National Organizer said the party would ensure that Gomoa West seat which was occupied by the NDC, fall to the NPP come December, and assured the constituency executives that everything possible would be done to achieve that.

Mr Commey pointed out that no single person was ordained to become a member of parliament, and cautioned all aspiring candidates not to sow seeds of discord, but to close their ranks to enable the party to win more seats in the region.
