Lovers robbed at Oguaa Beach

An unemployed native of Effiduase in the Ashanti region, who allegedly robbed two lovers at knife point while they were having fun at a Cape Coast Beach, has been remanded into Prisons Custody by a Cape Coast Circuit Court.

Asenso Boateng, 25, initially made away with a Techno M3 mobile phone valued at GH¢280.00, a Nokia - 133 mobile phone valued GH¢ 150.00, a Toyota RAV 4 ignition key, a handkerchief, a wallet containing various identity cards and cash in the sum of GH¢70.00

He was charged with robbery but his plea was not taken.

He will be re- arraigned on Thursday, January 22.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Andam Okyere, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr. Kofi Seshie Ametewee that the complainants in the case, Mr. Edward Adomako Amoako and his girlfriend Ms. Patricia Baffoe were residents of Cape Coast.

He said Boateng resided with his girlfriend at Siwdo Compound, a suburb of the Metropolis.

On Friday January 2, this year, complainants were having fun at OLA beach , when Boateng and other accomplice, who was currently at large, attacked them with knife , slapped Mr. Amoako, violently searched and took the aforementioned items from them.

Boateng and his accomplice thereafter took to their heels and entered a bush nearby while the complainants shouted for help which attracted people including a nearby police patrol team.

The prosecutor further revealed that the Police Patrol Team arrested Boateng but his accomplice managed to escape.

When the bush was searched, the Toyota RAV 4 vehicle ignition key, the wallet containing the Identity cards, were retrieved while an amount of GH¢ 10.00 in five Cedis denomination and an Opel car key were recovered after Boateng was searched.

Investigations were ongoing to arrest the accomplice, he added.
