Lower Manya NPP endorses Mrs Kusi to contest parliamentary seat

Odumase-Krobo (E/R), June 10, GNA - Mrs Dedo Agyarko Kusi, a Lawyer and a Linguist, was endorsed by acclamation as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Lower Manya Constituency at its primaries held at Odumase-Krobo on Wednesday.

Mrs Agyarko Kusi became the only candidate after two others - Mr Andrews Teye, Manya Krobo District Chief Executive and Mr Dama Narh, an NPP Activist - had withdrawn their nominations.

Addressing Party members shortly after the endorsement, Mr Dan Botwe, General Secretary of the NPP, observed that the Danquah-Busia Tradition had never won any election in the Krobo Lands and, therefore, pledged that the Party would mobilise resources to win the Lower Manya, Upper Manya, Yilo and Asuogyaman Constituencies in Election 2004. He commended Party members in the Constituency for going through the election process peacefully and asked them to support Mrs Kusi to win the seat.

Mr Botwe predicted that the NPP would win massively in the elections and that there will be no run-off.

He said no government could be compared to the NPP in terms of bringing development to the people and that the Government would continue to use both human resources and genuine loans to sustain the pace of progress, despite criticisms from its political opponents. He held that the NPP's ideology and philosophy were the best to move the country forward towards its developmental goal.

In her acceptance speech, Mrs Kusi thanked the party members for the confidence reposed in her and pledged that she would do everything to win the seat for the NPP.

She also pledged to help in the development of the area to serve as a model in Ghana.

Mr Teye and Mr Narh pledged to support Mrs Kusi in her campaign to win the seat.
