Headmaster of the Mafi-Kumase Senior High Technical School (MAKSTECH), Courage Mideku has applauded President Akufo-Addo for keeping to his promise of building a multipurpose Technical facility for the school.
President Akufo-Addo made the pledge during the school’s 33rd anniversary and speech and price giving ceremony in May, 2017.
The newly built workshop is a one stop shop where all technical students are expected to undergo practical training after theory in class.
The president as part of his strategies to revamp the Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) to suit the job market is evident in his commitment of building such workshops in schools.
The project is completed waiting installation with equipment to be commissioned for use.
Speaking in an interview with Fred Duhoe, Mr Courage Mideku said, "The President's promised to build Technical Workshop for the technical department and he delivered, we thank him for keeping to his promise. The workshop will soon be put to use to enhance teaching and learning. Our best grade 2017 was aggregate 12 from a technical student at the time they learned in abstract so we hope this workshop is one major intervention that will go a long way to help improve their grades".
The president was in the school in May 2017 and has added his quota to the unprivileged school after years of deficiencies in many forms ranging from infrastructure to teaching materials.
According to the headmaster Mr Courage Mideku, the free SHS is on course and was hopeful if students buy some relevant books that will complement what government supplies, their WASSCE results will be one of the best.
The executives of the old students association of the school (MAKOSU) on Thursday 25 January visited the school to inspect projects and abreast themselves with happenings in the school.
The president of the association Mr Wisdom Van Agbemafo was glad that work was completed as scheduled. "It's heart-warming to see a multipurpose technical workshop in the school and our profound gratitude goes to the president of the republic for fulfilling his promise" he added.
