MASLOC CEO justifies GHC5k per diem for former Boss

The Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Stephen Amoah, has said there was nothing wrong with his predecessor, Sedina Tamakloe Attionu, drawing GH¢5000 as per diem for travels outside Accra.

The amount was excluding fuel.

“I don’ think my predecessor did anything wrong taking GH¢5000 as per diem because that was and is the policy,” Mr Amoah told Francis Abban Monday on ‘Time with the CEO’ segment on Morning Starr.

However, the policy has since been changed under his leadership to cut down on expenditure, saving the country some money in the process.

“I am taking less just to save the country some money,” said Mr Amoah.

“Until we came, CEOs took GH¢5000 as per diem when they travel outside Accra excluding fuel. We have changed that and so, now as a CEO, I take GH¢1500 as per diem when I am outside Accra,” he added.

Touching on the Centre’s arrangement with individuals who throng it for assistance to start up a business, Mr Amoah said: “We have made it clear that anyone who takes funds from us will pay back.”

On the MASLOC vehicles, he said they have about 350 in their custody and that one can only access it after meeting all the processes and requirements.

He also revealed that vehicles are available for sale and people and institutions can come around to buy them.

He, however, noted they “are a bit expensive than those on the market and this is because of the price at which the NDC got them.”
