The Municipal Chief Executive of Ayawaso West Municipal Assembly, Sandra Owusu-Ahinkorah, has commended Lydia Seyram Alhassan for her immense contribution to the growth and development in Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

She described the Member of Parliament as hardworking and supportive as she is one of the few MPs who works closely with the MCEs.

As Lydia Alhassan celebrates her birthday today, the MCE said

“This is an MP who builds bridges, who is ready to work with everyone, very ready to give and listen to advice, and so on.”

“It is no wonder that whiles we hear that some MPs and MCEs are at loggerheads you don't hear this in Ayawaso West. I wish you a Happy Birthday, long life and more victories my MP and Sister in service.” She said

Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan replaced her late husband as the Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency after winning the by-election held in January 2019.

Madam Alhassan, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, was the second wife of the late MP Mr Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko.

She polled 68.80 per cent of the valid votes cast.

Due to her immerse contribution to her residents and the party at large the NPP’s National Council, which is one of the party’s highest decision making body has, unanimously resolved to make Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the Member of Parliament for Awayaso West Wougon the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for the 2020 General Elections.

In arriving at this decision, the NPP took the view that Lydia Seyram Alhassan was overwhelmingly elected by the delegates of the constituency to stand as the party’s Parliamentary Candidate during the by-elections held in that constituency exactly a year ago. It is also the position of the party that she has thus far, conducted herself creditably in meeting the legitimate expectations of her constituents and the party at large. In view of this, the NPP’s National Council felt it was in the supreme interest of the party to maintain Lydia Seyram Alhassan as their Parliamentary Candidate in order to guarantee a retention of the Seat.

Below is MCE’s statement

This is an MP who builds bridges, who is ready to work with everyone, very ready to give and listen to advice, and so on.

It is no wonder that whiles we hear that some MPs and MCEs are at loggerheads you don't hear this in Ayawaso West.

We have collaborated on so many projects and keep working together. She is always around to lend her support.

So on this day Hon. Lydia Alhassan, as you celebrate the addition of a year to your age, I wish to thank God for your life, humility, courage, selflessness and your determination to see Ayawaso West Municipal and Constituency bring growth and prosperity to its residents.
