MCE lauds National Sanitation Day

Mr. Kwabena Nkansah Asare, Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has stated that various interventions have been instituted by the assembly to help address problems emanating from poor sanitation.

He told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region, that the implementation of the National Sanitation Day in the municipality was gathering laudable momentum.

Mr. Nkansah Asare stressed that the active participation of the security forces, public services workers and the members of the community in the previous National Sanitation Day, was a manifestation that the municipal capital (Akim Oda), would become a healthy place to live and do business.

He urged all and sundry to turn up in their numbers on the first Saturday of every month to ensure that filth in the capital was cleared, adding, “Cleanliness is next to Godliness”.

The MCE hinted; “it has been my personal commitment to help develop the Oda Township, to make it a befitting capital and also develop its communities”, adding, it would not be an easy task when Oda is engulfed with filth.

Mr. Nkansah Asare urged the citizenry to offer constructive suggestions to the assembly in order to help address challenges facing the municipality they should also not sit on the fence, but provide alternative proposals to promote national development.

He urged future assembly members to assist in instituting effective measures to improve on their locally generated revenue, stressing that; “effective mobilization of resources is necessary for local development”.

The MCE called on Heads of Departments to join forces with the assembly for the total transformation of the Birim Central Municipality.
