MMDAs to attend training on street-naming

As part of efforts to facilitate the speedy implementation of the street-naming and the property addressing exercise, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, is organizing a nationwide technical training workshop for all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

The workshop is intended to equip the Regional and District Planning Officers, Town and Country Planning Officers and other technical staff of the Assemblies, with the requisite skills and knowledge to carry out the exercise.

This was contained in a press release issued by the Eastern Regional Co-ordinating Council at the weekend.

According to the statement, the training for the technical staff of the Assemblies in the Eastern Region would be organized at Koforidua from July 20 to 25.

It explained that, the five-day workshop is expected to address the challenges such as lack of resources, technical expertise and staffing facing the assemblies.

The RCC, therefore, called on all MMDAs in the region to attach high priority to the exercise and attend the workshop.

The RCC maintained that, the exercise is crucial to help in the identification of places, facilitate the issuance of business operating licenses and the collection of property rates.

It also seeks to create efficient institutions and congenial working environment in the urban areas to promote the country’s socio-economic development.

The RCC, therefore, entreated traditional and religious bodies, groups and individuals to co-operate with the officers when the exercise begins in their respective areas to help make it a success.
