…For poor governance and hardship
Prof. Atta Mills-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government has recently come under attack from a section of Ghanaians due to its poor style of governance and economic hardship that they have unleashed on Ghanaians since they assumed office in 2009.
One of the prominent personalities who have expressed his sentiments about the slow pace of the NDC is the legislator representing the people of Suhum constituency in the Eastern Region, Hon. Frederick Opare-Ansah.
The Member of Parliament for Suhum who is also the Minority Chief and a Member of the ECOWAS Parliament said the snail pace governance style of the Prof. Mills-led administration has halt all developmental projects that were started by the Kuffuor-led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
He said the quirky and fickle of the NDC government has led to the massive corruption the country is witnessing recently.
According the Hon. Opare-Ansah, the former NPP administration did many developmental projects and initiated programs and policies that would have hasten the youth and prevent them from any social vices but due to lack of good planning and technical know-how they have all collapsed under the NDC government led by Prof Atta Mills and John Mahama.
The honourable member continued that the ruling NDC government has deliberately neglected all the infrastructural projects that were initiated by the previous NPP government for the reason best known to the NDCs and asked the electorate to vote against them when they go the poll in December 2012.
“You can attest by yourselves the hardship this mediocrity NDC government has brought onto Ghanaians, everything has gone from good to worse, no work, no development and even no policy to know which the direction the country is heading to”, he said.
“We always wake up with news of financial malfeasance, political intimidation and others that adds more problems to our already burden and that is why we are asking to vote against this government and bring in the Nana Addo and the NPP to continue the good policies that was implemented by the Kuffuor administration”, he added.
Hon. Opare-Ansah made this observation when he went on a five-day familiarization tour of the constituency to abreast himself with the issues bothering his constituents where he also donated computers, printers, cements and roofing sheets (to remove schools under trees in the area), footballs and jerseys, secondhand clothing and streetlights to schools and communities.
Interacting with the media, the Suhum representative in Ghana Parliament said as a Member of Parliament representing his people he is to make sure the government brings in good policies that will be beneficial to his constituents and Ghana as a whole for approval and monitoring but this ruling government has failed and has nothing good to offer Ghanaians hence he is calling for his removal through the ballot box.
“Though am elected as a legislator, I will do my quota to help my people from some unnecessary hardships we are going through as a result of poor NDC administration”, he noted.
He continued that President Mills and the NDC government have destroyed the main purpose of former President Kuffuor and the NPP introducing social interventions such as the Youth Employment, Capitation Grant and the Metro Mass Transport, etc, but assured the people that Nana Addo would continue with it when given the nod as President in this year’s general election.
He noted that the area lack many developmental projects and he is working around the clock to attract private and government support to solve the problems, however he urged the people to welcome any investor who may be willing to help improve developments since the NDC government had abandoned projects around the country and has dole out a whooping GH¢58 million (¢580 billion) to Mr. Alfred Abgesi Woyome for no work done.
The people in expressing their gratitude assured the MP of their votes and support to enable him continues with the dreams and visions he has for the constituency due to his personal relationship with the grassroots which he has maintained for all this while.
In a related development, Hon. Opare-Ansah has also donated 30 Television Sets, 30 power generators to 30 communities that are not connected to the national electricity grid to join other part of the world to watch the 2012 World Cup which is currently on-going.
