Apam (C/R), Aug. 30, GNA - The Member of Parliament for Gomoa West, Mr Joe Kingsely Hackman, has appealed to financial institutions in the district to grant loans to farmers and fishermen to expand their business to increase productivity.
He said though the area was a deprived one, such assistance would help them to improve upon their living standard because the area had very good farmers and fishermen that needed assistance. Mr Hackman said this at the 25th Annual General Meeting of the Gomoa Rural Bank at Apam. He said no town or community could develop without assistance from the banks.
He, however, appealed to the farmers and fishermen to re-pay such loans, if granted them to enable others to benefit. The MP said that the Gomoa District had been selected to benefit from the Millennium Challenge Account meant to reduce poverty in the country.
The Vice-Chairman of the Board of Director of the Bank, Mr Francis Albert Tandoh, who chaired the function, said arrangements had been completed to secure a plot of land for the construction of a permanent building for the bank.
