MP calls on government to clear air on SADA Project

Sogakope (VR), Nov 23, GNA - Mr. Haruna Bayariga, the Member of Parliament for Sissala West, has called on the government to come out wit= h a clear-cut policy on the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA)=

project stipulated for the development of the three Northern and the Brong-Ahafo regions.

This, he said, would equip them with information to educate their constituents and the general public on how the programme was going to wor= k in those areas.

Mr. Bayariga, who was speaking to the GNA after raising the issue at a three-day post budget review workshop for chairmen and ranking members of various committees of parliament at Sogakope on Saturday, said almost one year in office the government had not done enough to vindicate itself from the campaign promises it made.

He said when former President John Agyekum Kufuor was leaving office, he left a seed fund of $25 million dollars and the NDC administration has also deposited GHC 25 million without explaining whether that was for the setting up of administrative structures or was meant for the commencement of development.

"As I am talking, expectations of the people from the affected areas are so high and any other explanation short of those expectations would disappoint and frustrate them"

Mr. Bayariga, the Chairman of Assurance Committee in Parliament, called on the NDC administration to sustain the confidence the people in the affected regions have in them by fulfilling their campaign promise to bridge the development gap between the north and the south.

He mentioned inadequate roads, schools, health facilities and potable water as some of the development problems affecting the three northern regions and urged the government to source funds to fix those problems.
