The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East, Emelia Ankomah (ESQ.), has called on workers within her constituency to prioritize excellent service delivery to the citizenry.
Her appeal came during a working visit to several governmental agencies on Monday, February 17, 2025.
This visit, her first since securing a decisive victory in the 2024 elections, took her to key institutions, including the Department of Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA), the Ghana Fire Service, the Ghana Highway Authority, NADMO, NCCE, the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), the National Ambulance Service, and the Department of Labour.
During her visit to the Fire Service Department, Ankomah reaffirmed her commitment to fulfilling a campaign promise to construct a new office complex. The project, which she initiated as Municipal Chief Executive, is now 60% complete.
She assured officers that it would be fully completed and emphasized the need for urgent servicing of the fire tender, which has remained unattended for the past eight years. She pledged to liaise with the National Headquarters to ensure all challenges facing the department were addressed promptly.
At the National Ambulance Department, officials lauded Ankomah’s role in facilitating the construction of ten CHPS compounds, which have significantly improved emergency healthcare services.
However, concerns were raised regarding poor road conditions, which hamper emergency response efforts. The department also requested mini oxygen cylinders for emergency use.
In response, Ankomah commended the personnel for their dedication and assured them of her support in engaging the Ghana Health Service to address these pressing needs.
At the DVLA, the Municipal Director appealed for the construction of a perimeter wall to enhance security. Ankomah pledged her support for the initiative.
Meanwhile, NADMO officials highlighted the lack of an operational vehicle and the absence of relief items for over six years. Ankomah assured them of her commitment to securing resources to enhance their efficiency.
Her visit to the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) was met with enthusiasm, as staff noted that no previous MP had visited the office. They sought her support in executing their civic education mandate, which she promised to facilitate.
At the Ghana Enterprises Agency, Ankomah praised the organization’s role in providing vocational and technical training for young people.
She reiterated that under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, the government would continue investing in such initiatives, particularly for individuals living with disabilities, to promote self-reliance.
Concluding her agency visits at the Labour Office, she reaffirmed her commitment to supporting its operations and encouraged staff to reach out to her office whenever necessary to enhance service delivery, especially for the youth in Upper Denkyira East.
Beyond governmental institutions, Ankomah visited several churches to express her gratitude to God for her electoral success. She commended the churches for their role in shaping society and fostering community development, particularly in education and healthcare.
She assured religious leaders that her office remains open to all individuals with innovative ideas that can drive development in Upper Denkyira East.
Her tour ended with visits to all six communities in the Pokukrom electoral area, where she was warmly received by community members and elders.
