MP spends 500m cedis on school infrastructure

New Edubiase (Ash), Dec. 14, GNA 96 Mr Ernest Kofi Yakah, Member of Parliament (MP) for New Edubiase in the Adansi South District, has so far spent more than 500 million cedis to improve school infrastructure in his constituency.

He has spent 345 million cedis from his share of the district assemblies' common fund to finance the construction of a block of three classrooms at Fahiakobo of which work is almost completed. Speaking to newsmen at New Edubiase, the MP announced that he had spent 200 million cedis to clad two six-classroom pavilions at Kwame Adu and Aboabo with his part of the HIPC Fund.

He said other pavilions would be considered later for cladding. Mr Yakah said some school buildings in some communities in the constituency were in dangerous states and that he would commit his share of the GETFund to purchase building materials to support the communities to rehabilitate them.

In addition he said 200 million cedis out of his HIPC Fund would be expended to support the rehabilitation of the affected schools. The MP said he was financing the construction of a 10-seat vault chamber toilet at Edwinase of which work was about 70 per cent complete. He said he was providing assistance in the form of building materials to support community-initiated projects in some communities and named the beneficiary communities as Akutreso, Subriso, Nkrankese, Hwidiem, Nkranfo-Nkwanta, Aworoso and Nyamebekyere. The MP announced that efforts were being made to get a number of feeder roads in the area rehabilitated.

Already, he said the Amudurase-Aworoso and Ataasi Nkwanta-Obuobi feeder roads had been approved for construction. Mr Yakah appealed to the people to bury their political differences and forged ahead in unity to facilitate the development of the constituency and the entire District. 13 Dec. 06
