Tsiyinu (V/R), March 29, GNA - Mr James Avedzi, Ketu North Member of Parliament (MP) has asked his constituents to set aside the pre-election political differences and unite towards the development of their communities.
"The elections are now over. Do away with the bitter inter-party divisions and unite for the development of your area", he told them. The MP gave this piece of advice when he joined the chiefs and people of Tsiyinu, a farming community near Afife in the Ketu District to mark their 19th annual "Deviza", at the weekend at Tsiyinu. He reminded them that the community was their collective asset and that they stood to loose if they failed to attract the needed social facilities on the alter of differences.
"You have your community as your common asset and you suffer the consequences if you are divided continually and fail to develop it", he stated.
Mr Avedzi who expressed his gratitude to the constituents for voting for him said he would facilitate the development of the area in line with his campaign promises.
He commended the people of Tsiyinu for coming together to pull resources annually towards the development of the community noting that their little effort could be an encouragement for the District Assembly, ministries and community development agencies to come to their aid. Mr Avedzi pledged an assistance of 50 bags of cement from his share of the MP common fund for use in strengthening the base of the community school block, which is under threat by sand erosion.
Mr Stephen Morgah, Secretary of Tsiyinu Development Union appealed for resumption of work on the Afife-Tsiyinu-Kporkuve-Ohawu feeder road linking the area, which had been abandoned after building one of the four culverts earmarked on it.
He said the road, which is currently flooded after the recent rains forcing people to abandon their vehicles and trek to and fro Tsiyinu was a major problem in the area.
Togbi Ashiagbor II, chief of Tsiyinu also called for support under the HIPC Fund for the completion of a six-classroom block for the basic school in addition to connection to the national power grid for which they had acquired 30 poles.
He also appealed to the government to help bring health services closer to the community by establishing a clinic in the area.
