In what has become an annual tradition, MTN Ghana has once again put smiles on the faces of hundreds of mothers across the country this Christmas Season. The business presented 500 hampers to mothers of newborn babies born on Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

The presentation, which was done on 26th December across the country, was spearheaded by the staff of MTN Ghana. MTN volunteers took time off during their holidays to spend time to visit and distribute gifts to mothers in 30 hospitals in all 16 regions.

The hampers contained diapers, blankets, wipes, shawls, towels, bibs, clothes, toiletries and other baby essentials as well as airtime for each of the mothers.

The Chief Corporate Services and Sustainability Officer of MTN Ghana, Adwoa Afriyie Wiafe, said, “Christmas is a time to show love and boxing day has been set aside for giving, we are happy to see smiles on the faces of new born mothers.

As you know, this is a thing we do annually, and across the country several members of staff are visiting select hospitals with gifts.”

Kissinna Kodareme, a beneficiary who delivered a baby girl on Christmas day at the Tamale Teaching Hospital expressed joy at the gesture and thanked MTN Ghana for instituting the exercise.

Michael Danso, Administrator at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital, expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the distribution of hampers. He said “A lot of mothers need these items to cater for their new borns but the hospital cannot support them because of financial constraints; this shows that you are very responsible and we pray you continue to do more”.
