The Flag bearer of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo Addo has described President John Mahama and his Vice, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur as the copyright owners of election rigging in Ghana.
According to him, this illegal practice is exclusive to the NDC in Ghana’s electoral history.
Vice president Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur during his tour of the Ashanti Region which is a stronghold of the opposition NPP last week, urged NDC supporters to be vigilant as some opponents of the party are plotting to rig this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7.
“I will urge all of you to be extra vigilant. NDC needs help. On December 7, some people will try to cheat the NDC. Be very vigilant to ensure no one succeeds in cheating us,” he told party supporters at Asawase.
But responding to the Vice President’s comment during his tour of the Ablekuma West Constituency in Greater Accra Tuesday, Nana Akufo Addo told the teeming NPP crowd that the former’s statement was a clear admission of the end of the reign of the Mahama-led government.
“Our President and his running mate Amissa Arthur as we say in boxing have already thrown in the towel. Did you hear the shocking statement by our Vice President at Asawase that NDC supporters should beware because some people have planned to rig the upcoming election. How…what I know is that the President and his Vice have a copyright of the rigging phenomenon in Ghana, we are not the ones to rig this election, we are the forebears of democracy.”
He added: “If they foresee their lose in this election, they should keep quiet and not say things that will get Ghanaians angry. This year Ghanaians have decided to throw their support behind the elephant (NPP) come the elections in order to take over power and make Ghana a better place.”
