President John Mahama has said the Black Stars have “redeemed themselves in the eyes of Ghanaians” with their performance at the just ended Africa Cup of Nations at Equatorial Guinea.
The Black Stars lost on penalties to the Elephants of Ivory Coast in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, which was hosted by Equatorial Guinea.
They were met on arrival at the Kotoka International Airport Monday by jubilant Ghanaians.
The stars had incurred the wrath of Ghanaians after they boycotted training sessions during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil over unpaid bonuses.
However, most Ghanaians appear to have been pleased with their performance at the 2015 AFCON.
Speaking at a luncheon held in their honour at the Flagstaff House Tuesday, President Mahama said Ghanaians have forgiven them for their misconduct in Brazil.
“All of us are happy, I think that the confidence in our Stars has been restored, you have redeemed yourselves in the eyes of Ghanaians.
“And I can assure you that the whole nation is behind you, we can see a great future for the team”.
