The National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama has said the next government under his leadership would reinstitute automatic posting for nursing trainees after they have completed school.

Mr. Mahama who made a brief campaign stop at the Ntrotroso College of Nursing and Midwifery in the Asutifi North Constituency assured the nursing students that their conditions would be well taken care of if he is voted into power in December.

“I know all the problems you have with your allowances and everything. We’re going to come and make things better for you,” he said.

The opposition leader promised to “restore automatic posting so when you come out of school, you can get a job as quickly as possible”.

He used the opportunity to tout his flagship ‘No fees stress’ policy, maintaining that the trainees’ “younger brothers and sisters who will come after you, when they come to the first year, they are not going to pay any school fees”.

The former president reminded the nursing students to vote for change and the "24-hour economy" initiative when they go to the polls on December 7, 2024.
