A Former Western Regional Minister, Joseph Boahen Aidoo has taken President John Dramani Mahama to task on his report on rural electrification in the Western Region.
The President in the state of the nation’s address last week, stated that his administration has increased the coverage of electricity from 59% to over 80%.
But according to the former Amenfi East legislator, the feat has been chalked as a result of the 350 million dollar US Exim bank facility secured under the administration of former president John Agyekum Kufuor.
He indicates that it was unfair for the president to have taken the glory without crediting the former president who contributed significantly to the development of rural electrification.
“As far back as in 2006, former Kufuor embarked on extensive rural electrification through an EXIM Bank loan facility and for the president to claim the glory is very unfortunate”, he observed
The Former minister also challenges the records presented by the president about the completion of the Takwah, Bogoso, and Ayamfuri road as presented by the president in his address
“All these projects were the initiatives of Former President John Agyekum Kufuor. He is trying to reap where he has not sown”, he concluded.
