Mahama committed to appointing experienced, hardworking women to help reset Ghana - Nana Oye

Deputy Chief of Staff in Charge of Administration, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, has reiterated President John Dramani Mahama's commitment to increasing women's representation in his administration.

Speaking in a recent interview on JoyNews, she pointed out that the president will continue to prioritise the appointment of women to contribute to the country's progress, as part of the broader vision to reset the country.

"John Dramani Mahama has stated clearly that he has appointed women and has hit the 27% mark. So, we have three more points to hit 30%. And he assured Ghanaians that he will definitely hit the 30% mark.

"So, rest assured, the people of Ghana, especially women of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama is committed to appointing women, women with skills, women with experience, hardworking women, so that together, we all reset Ghana," she noted.

During the 2024 Election, Mahama promised that at least 30 percent of his appointees would be women.

So far, he has appointed seven women as ministers out of 42 ministerial nominations.

These include Abla Dzifa Gomashie to the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts; Emelia Arthur to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture; and Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection.

The others are Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, Eastern Regional Minister; Charity Gardiner, Ahafo Regional Minister; Linda Ocloo, Greater Accra Regional Minister; and Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare to head the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry.
