Mahama does not care about Ghanaians – Chairman Wontumi

ASHANTI REGIONAL Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bernard Antwi Boasiako has descended heavily on President Mahama.

Affectionately called ‘Wontumi,’ the NPP capo, without mincing words, lambasted the Ghanaian leader for not caring about Ghanaians.

He was speaking in an interview with Daily Guide during the NPP congress at the Tamale Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Wontumi said “if President Mahama cares about Ghanaians, he would have done something about the problems facing the people.”

He said instead of President Mahama showing signs of saving the citizenry from their quandary, he was rather moving about giving fake promises: “President Mahama wants to use every opportunity that he gets to give false promises to Ghanaians.”

Wontumi said the people of Ghana did not need big promises which could not be fulfilled, rather “we need improvement in our lives.”

He said Ghanaians were now facing mountainous challenges which needed immediate solution, adding that Ghanaians needed government policies that would halt the upsurge in poverty.

He complained bitterly over high electricity and water tariffs and rapid petrol price increases, which were heightening the plight of the populace.

Wontumi noted that the capitation system in the Ashanti Region was also sending more people to their graves, but nothing was being done by President Mahama.

He predicted that the NPP would oust the Mahama administration from political power in 2016.

According to him, there was no way Ghanaians would renew the mandate of President Mahama in 2016 “after failing to deliver in his first term.”

Wontumi said he would mobilise millions of Ghanaians to hit the streets and demonstrate until the President stepped down.

The Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman said his decision to lead a demonstration in the country was aimed at pressurising the President to do the right thing.

According to him, the electorate voted for President Mahama to fix Ghana’s quandary but not to add to it.

Wontumi said he was peeved because President Mahama, who had failed Ghanaians, was behaving as if everything was okay with the people.
