Mahama embarks on Brong Ahafo tour

Accra, July 12, GNA- Mr. John Dramani Mahama, Running Mate to Professor Evans Atta Mills, Flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Saturday said the NDC would streamline the Ghana Police Service to respond to the security needs of the country, if the party comes to power.

He said it is only when Ghanaians were assured of their security that peace and development could be guaranteed. Mr. Mahama was speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in a pre-departure interview in Accra, before embarking on a ten-day campaign tour of some parts of Brong Ahafo region to carry the party's message of investing in the economy and creating jobs.

He said it was frightening to be witnessing assassinations, armed robberies and increasing drug menace in the society. Mr. Mahama and his entourage, including Mr. Huudu Yahaya, National Vice Chairman and Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the NDC, would tour places such as Bechem, Duayaw Nkwanta, Sunyani, Abesem, Berekum, Drobo, Odumase and Kintampo. 12 July 08
