Mahama expresses gratitude over condolence messages

President John Dramani Mahama has expressed gratitude and appreciation to dignitaries including heads of state who sent him messages of condolence at the passing of his mother.

The president was bereaved of his mother Tuesday night. Hajia Abiba Nnaba died at the SSNIT Hospital in Accra after being admitted for a short illness.

She was buried on Friday, June 17 at her hometown, Busunu, in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region.

Taking to Twitter to express gratitude for the warmth offered him, President Mahama named Ivorian leader Alassane Ouattara, Nigeria leader Muhammadu Buhari, Sierra Leone leader Ernest Bai Koroma, Mali’s Ibrahim Keita, Senegal’s Macky Sall and Guinea Bissau’s Jose Mario Vaz as some of the African leaders who have sent him condolence messages.

President Mahama also thanked former presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor for their visit and message respectively.

Hashtagged #Ripmother, the five tweets thanked Nana Akufo-Addo and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kofi Portuphy and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Prof Edmund Delle and the Convention People’s Party (CPP) for their messages.

He also thanked state institutions such as Bank of Ghana, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC).

The clergy including Archbishop Nicolas Duncan-Williams, the Chief Imam as well as the Assemblies of God Church was not left out.

Speaker of Parliament and the Chief Justice were also thanked.
