Following Ghana’s victory over her neighbor, La Côte D’voir in the maritime dispute, former president John Dramani Mahama has thanked his successor for consulting the former administration and also continuing the litigation to the latter.

In congratulating Ghana and Ghanaians after the verdict, he singled out President Nana Addo Dankwa for believing what the erstwhile attorney general had to offer in determining Ghana’s merit in the matter.

He believes this is the way Ghana should move as a nation observing that the Ghana can achieve a lot if persons from different political backgrounds work towards for a common purpose.

On Saturday, September 23, 2017 the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) ruled in favour of Ghana in the long standing feud that failed after initial attempts by the former administration to resolve it amicably.

Below is an excerpt of what his congratulatory message on his Facebook page:

“Ghana also owes its gratitude to President Nana Akufo-Addo and Attorney General Gloria Akuffo for allowing the litigation to continue and for the wise decision in seeking the collaboration of the former Attorney General in pursuing the case. It shows clearly, what we can achieve together when Government works as a continuum.”
