Henry Kwabena Kokofu, Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama has taken a swipe at President Mahama for saying there is no unity in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

President Mahama for a while now has been campaigning that no one should vote for Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo, given that he has supervised division in the NPP and the probability of repeating same in the country as President is high.

But Mr. Kokofu, who was speaking on Adom TV on Monday morning opined that there would have been no need to sack the 23 persons standing as Independent candidates against their own party if there was unity in the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He explained that the affected decided to stand as independent candidates in the first place because of some unresolved grievances in the party.

“The President instructed the General Secretary, Asiedu Nketia to sack those 23 people and that would not have been necessary if there was unity”, Kokofu alleged.

Mr. Kokofu reminded the President that the cracks in the NDC has resulted in Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, wife of founder of the NDC to forming her own party.

Again, he said, Nana Addo, who contested the presidential slot against six (6) competitors during primaries got 94 percent but President Mahama who went unopposed still had a significant number of people voting against him, “so who has division in his party?”.

Mr. Kokofu called on the President to stop using division- a non-existing division in the NPP as his campaign message, since the NDC is also facing serious divisions.
