The Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram Constituency in the Greater Accra Region has chastised President Akufo-Addo and his government for claiming the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration did not invest in health infrastructure.

President Akufo-Addo in his 8th address on measures being taken to curb the outbreak of the corona virus on Sunday said his government will build 88 hospitals in districts without one.

Reacting to the issue on Onua TV’s maiden edition of its morning show, dubbed, Maakye, the Ningo-Prampram legislator, Sam George asserted that the president “lied” when he claimed the erstwhile government did not invest in the health sector.

“The Mahama administration invested $2 billion in the health sector. Two billion investments were made in the health infrastructure so he should come and apologize to Ghanaians for lying to this nation,” he demanded.

The MP said the Akufo-Addo-led government “has not built one hospital in three years, but the president is promising to build 88 hospitals in one year”.

But the MP for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, who was also on the show told the host, Bright Kwasi Asempa that the hospitals when constructed would help in the fight against the COVID-19.
