The Minority New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for Atwima Mponua in the Ashanti Region, Isaac Asiamah, has described President John Dramani Mahama as the “worst President Ghana has ever produced”.
The MP launched the scathing attack on the President and his administration when he took to the streets to join the ‘Yabre’ demonstration in Kumasi, organised by the pro-NPP group the Movement For Change.
The demonstration, which is one of the largest in recent years in the NPP’s stronghold, sought to protest against the hardships it says Ghanaians were facing.
Led by the NPP’s Dr. Mahamoud Bawumia, Alan Kyeremangten and other bigwigs from across the country, the protest march followed a similar one by the party in the national capital over the worsening power crisis, popularly known as ‘dumsor’.
Speaking to TV3 in the midst of demonstrators, Mr. Isaac Asiamah expressed surprise at the crowd that joined the Kumasi protest, saying it was an indication of the citizens’ dislike for the incumbent government.
He said just as the power crisis was unprecedented, so was the abysmal performance of President Mahama, declaring him as the “worst President Ghana has ever had”.
He said Ghanaians were suffering while excess money had been allowed to go waste through corruption.
“This is another massive crowd and I am happy that Ghanaians are registering their total dislike for this regime. The ‘dum koraa’ is unprecedented. It has never happened before. For good three years, this country has been plunged into total darkness while this government is engaged in massive corruption since 2009”.
“We have paid judgment debts to the tune of 600 million dollars, 1.5 billion lost through GYEEDA. This is the worst President Ghana has ever produced. It has never happened before. If he is sleeping he should wake up. He’s been sleeping since 2009 when he was a Vice President and he is still sleeping. He should wake up because Ghanaians are suffering” he stated.
