President John Dramani Mahama will leave Ghana today for Niamey, Niger, to attend a meeting of a Presidential task force on Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Monetary Cooperation Program.
President Mahama and President Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger were mandated by ECOWAS in October 2013 to spearhead the sub-region’s efforts towards a single currency and monetary union by January 2020.
At today’s meeting, the two presidents will receive the report of their task force and review the road map towards 2020.
