The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Yaw Obimpeh, has urged former President John Dramani Mahama to learn to consult elders of the party.
According to him, the decision to consult the elders would help him (Mahama) to re-address some issues and be able to correct some slip-ups made earlier.
Mr Yaw Owusu Bempeh who disclosed on Angel FM in Kumasi in an interview on Friday, explained that these elders have lots of great ideas which would be benefit him and the party as a whole.
“There are elders in the party who we have suggested to him to consult. We have about six or more elders of the party who Mahama needs to visit at home so that they can pass on the good ideas they have to him. It’s not too late”. He said.
Mr Owusu failed to mention any name to the media when asked whether former president Rawlings is one of the elders the former president should be consulting.
“There are many elders of the party who worked hard in founding this party. They have made the party what it is today”. He asserted.
According to the NDC Regional chairman, there are many elders who may not be physically strong enough to work for the party yet they can offer good ideas for the development of NDC now that it is in opposition.
Former President Jerry John Rawlings, in recent years has not had a good time with his party, NDC. In some instances, he described the Mahama led administration as a corrupt regime. He further described some officials as “babies with sharp teeth” after they verbally descended on him in the media.
He has in recent years not fully participated in his party’s activities giving rise to claims he has fallen off with the party he established.
At the just ended “Unity Walk” organized in the Central Region, he chose to follow his party’s Rival Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo–Addo the President of the republic of Ghana to Kumasi leaving his party’s activity though he was said to have been invited.
