Mahama must stop using the republic to spread lies about opponents -NPP UK

Our attention has been drawn to a series of articles and news reports in an outlet that calls itself the Republic, a state backed government news portal that also operates a Facebook page and an online website. We are fully aware that the Republic has been set up by President John Mahama to continually spread lies and to intimidate attack, smear and vilify political opponents.

In its 20th July edition, a news story was carried about a supposed body guard of the flagbearer of the NPP Nana Akufo- Addo called Wisdom Nuamah Donkor being arrested during his visit to meet Ghanaians in Manchester. We wish to state that Nana Addo has no bodyguard by that name neither does he keep bodyguards here in the UK. Nobody was also arrested. Nana Addo’s visit to meet and interact with Ghanaians in Manchester was very successful with hundreds of Ghanaians attending from other cities and towns across Northern England. This report is false and an insult to Ghanaians in the entire UK.

We also notice another propaganda story carried on Mr John Boadu, our National Organiser accused of grabbing a supposed 43,000 dollar car after the Talensi by election. We find this not only despicable but also a baseless and cowardly attack on his person. There is no truth in this story as well.

It is very sad that at a time that Ghanaians are struggling with a weak economy which is causing widespread poverty especially in the rural areas, our cocoa industry on the verge of collapse, our farmers and fishermen struggling and with our power crisis getting worse, President Mahama continues to use state funds including the recent IMF bailout loan collected at huge cost to the nation, to prop up press houses to write lies and propaganda stories on his political opponents not only in the NPP, but also other political parties, religious leaders and other civic organisations.
We in the NPP remain focused and are working hard to win the next election in 2016 to redeem Ghanaians from hardship and poverty and will not be distracted by lies, attacks and smears from Mr John Mahama and his state sponsored rented press like the Republic.
