Mahama not copying Nana Addo’s campaign strategy - Gov't

Felix Ofosu-Kwakye Felix Ofosu-Kwakye

President John Dramani Mahama’s ongoing nationwide tour to canvas for votes for the NDC’s November 7 primaries has been pooh-poohed by the opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP].

The NPP accused President Mahama of adopting their flagbearer’s campaign tactics dubbed “Rise and Build” – the tour sees Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo touring the country to interact with party executives and the electorates ahead of election 2016.

The same method is what the president is embarking on, however, for an internal election.

But the accusation has been rubbished by a Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Ofosu Kwakye in an interview with Akwasi Aboagye on NEAT FM’s morning show dubbed 'Ghana Montie'.

Felix was emphatic that – the President under no circumstances will duplicate NPP’s strategies in campaigning for their aspiring president.

"President Mahama is not copying Nana Addo in his campaign,” he said.

He explained that – the president’s ongoing campaign is for an internal election within the NDC – “Not a general election campaign.”

“Nana Addo is campaigning for the 2016 election. Our [NDC] Constitution doesn’t permit a yet to be elected flagbearer to start his major campaign now. It’s unfortunate the NPP is making such allegations” he told the host.
