President-Elect John Dramani Mahama has announced that he has invited the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to his inauguration on January 7, 2024.
Mahama, in a post shared on social media on December 22, 2024, said that he met Tinubu in Abuja, where he invited him to his inauguration.
He also indicated that he held discussions with Nigeria’s president on how to foster unity and prosperity in the West African sub-region.
“During the previous week, I flew to Abuja, Nigeria, to meet my brother, President @officialABAT, who is also the Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State, to extend a warm invitation to my inauguration on January 7, 2025, as we work together to strengthen our collaboration and deepen ties within the ECOWAS community.
“We discussed our shared vision for progress and unity, which is vital for the growth and stability of our region,” Mahama wrote on his X handle.
The president-elect also met with the President of Benin, Patrice Talon, following his re-election into office.

About the 2024 presidential election:
The Electoral Commission of Ghana, after 48 hours of anticipation, declared former President John Dramani Mahama the winner of the 2024 presidential election.
This was after widespread calls for transparency, particularly after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat less than 24 hours after the polls closed.
Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa announced the results on December 9, 2024, revealing that the declaration was made despite results from nine constituencies still pending.
According to her, these constituencies were deemed inconsequential to the overall outcome.

• Mahamudu Bawumia (NPP) - 4,657,304 representing 41.61%
• Daniel Augustus Lartey (GCPP) - 16,673 representing 0.15%
• Christian Kwabena Andrews (GUM) - 16,461 representing 0.15%
• Kofi Akpaloo (LPG) - 5,219 representing 0.05%
• Mohammed Frimpong (NDP) - 4,413 representing 0.04%
• Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Kumankuma (CPP) - 23,397 representing 0.21%
• John Dramani Mahama (NDC) - 6,328,397 representing 56.55%
• Hassan Ayariga (APC) - 17,461 representing 0.16%
• Kofi Koranteng (Independent) - 3,320 representing 0.03%
