President John Dramani Mahama says his commitment towards ensuring that this year's general election becomes successful and peaceful is total.
He said this was the way forward to sustain the nation on the path of progress and improve the lives of the people.
He gave the assurance when he joined the Asantehene to celebrate the Akwasidae festival at his Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
The event coincided with the 17th-anniversary celebration of the coronation of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, as the 16th Asante King.
President Mahama reminded every Ghanaian that they had a critical contribution to make to protect the unity and stability of the country.
He pledged his determination to continue to work hard to build the vital infrastructure to speed up the socio-economic development.
The government, he said, had been implementing various projects – roads, schools, markets, hospitals and water with the goal of providing jobs to transform the lives of the people.
President Mahama applauded the Asantehene for complementing government’s efforts at fighting illiteracy, ignorance, poverty and diseases.
He said the strong leadership the King was showing in the promotion of education, water, sanitation and culture were commendable.
He used the occasion to encourage everybody to work together to uphold the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu said he would do everything to bring development and prosperity to the people.
He reminded chiefs to remain non-partisan, saying, they should not openly throw their support behind any particular political party as the country made preparations to go to the polls.
