A private legal practitioner, Musa Ahmed has said the ongoing 'Accounting to the People tour' by President John Dramani Mahama is useless considering the high level of youth unemployment and economic hardship facing citizens.

The lawyer explained that, it is needless to embark on the so called accounting to the people tour when in actual fact Ghana is faced with a crippling economy, mismanagement and unfulfilled promises by government.

President John Dramani Mahama has in the last few weeks embarked on his 'Accounting To the People' tour which is meant to inform Ghanaians on government’s projects, their stage of execution and their purposes.

The President has so far toured the Western, Eastern and currently in the Volta Region. Lawyer Musa Ahmed opined that, Ghanaians must see the transformation being touted by government and feel it in their pockets.

The lawyer stressed. if indeed there is anything to account to Ghanaians, them things should be far better than what we currently see.

Abuse of Incumbency, all political parties at fault The opposition parties and some civil society groups have chided President Mahama for abusing his incumbency and use of state resources to campaign ahead of the elections.

President Mahama has however, debunked the claims stating that, he has not abused his incumbency- rather he is embarking on a tour which is backed by the constitution to account to the electorate on what his government has done over the last three years.

Lawyer Musa Ahmed disagreed with the President and said, the use of state vehicles, security and other state resources is an abuse of incumbency and a disadvantage to the other political parties. On the issue of campaigning by President Mahama on his tour, the lawyer cited President Mahama for breach of law since the EC has not officially given the green light for political parties to start their campaigns.

He was however quick to add that, all the other political parties are guilty of the same crime because they [political parties] always campaign for their various parties anywhere they find themselves. He charged the EC to call the political parties to order.

Lawyer Musa Ahmed advised Ghanaians to use the ballot to vote out incompetent leaders from office when they fail in their mandate. The lawyer said it is not automatic for parties or people to be given 8 years in government if they fail in their first term.

He noted, Ghanaians must stop making noise over the incompetence of their leaders because they have the power to vote them out of office through the ballot box.
