Mahama’s ‘boot-for-boot’ comment triggered NDC’s Regional office gun attack – Adomako Baafi

Former Communications Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Yaw Adomako Baafi has attributed Monday’s shooting at the Ashanti Regional office of the NDC to Former President John Mahama 'boot for boot' comments, saying it triggered the event.

“What you said has encouraged some youth of your party to bring such a disgrace. If John Mahama had condemned the act, the youth would have thought it wise that leaders of the party do not condone killing and brutality”, he said

One person was confirmed dead at the Ashanti Regional headquarters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), while two others sustained serious injuries after gunmen believed to members of the NDC vigilante group, the HAWKS open fire on them.

Another person is said to be in critical condition at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in the region.

Mr Adomako Baafi who was speaking on Otec FM monitored by MyNewsGh.con insisted the former president is responsible for what happened.

“Former President John Mahama knows exactly what happened at the just ended Ayawaso West Wogoun by-election but after all that he was able to come out to tell supporters that, 2020 elections will be boot for boot and stressed that we NDC, when it comes to brutality we are best”. Mr Adomako Baafi chided accusing John Mahama to have caused the brutality.

Meanwhile, four members of pro-National Democratic Congress (NDC) vigilante group, the Hawks have been declared wanted by the Ashanti Regional Police Command for their roles in Monday’s shooting that led to the death of one person with another injured.

According to the Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Godwin Ahianyo one Warrior, Damos, Mejimah and and Abu Taliban, who are members of the NDC Vigilante Group, The Hawks are major suspects adding that the Police is pursuing them in connection with the violence.

Former President John Dramani Mahama has described as criminal Monday’s afternoon shooting at the Ashanti Regional Headquarters of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).



In a post on his Facebook page sighted by MyNewsGh.com he called on the police and related security agencies to immediately apprehend the perpetrators of the crime and subject them to the full rigors of the law.

His post reads “I have just been briefed about a shooting incident that occurred in front of the Ashanti Regional Office of the NDC leading to the death of one person and injury to another.

I strongly condemn this incident. It is clearly a criminal act, and I call on the police and relevant security agencies to investigate, immediately apprehend the culprits and subject them to the full rigours of the law”
