The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Aspirant for Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has deduced the hardship and the inability of President Mahama’s administration to create employment for Ghanaian youth to lack of fiscal discipline.
According to him, the 2016 budget does not provide fiscal discipline, making it impossible for the government to meet all of its promises to Ghanaians.
In support of Dr. Bawumia’s press conference on the 2016 budget, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah insisted the NDC government provides no hope for farmers in the budget as the government continues to lack fiscal discipline.
He again mentioned on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show that the 2016 budget does not come with any policy initiative which has the tendency to provide job opportunity for the youth and promote Ghanaian businesses.
He emphasized that “President Mahama’s government focuses on winning elections and not how to help the country to develop”; stressing that the NDC government wastes money on things which have no bearing on the progress of the farmers who expand the economy.
He maintained that the government should be able to manage the economy without IMF conditionalities and that, it is only fiscal discipline which can help shape the economy and work within the budget.
“Cut the waste and invest in farming and infrastructure…it is not about cutting nurses and teachers allowances and it is not about sacking workers in order to be fiscal discipline. If we are fiscally disciplined, we can subsidize farm tools and products for our farmers to maximize the strength of the economy,” he stated.
