A group calling itself NDC Action Movement has blamed the party’s horrendous performance in last year’s presidential and parliamentary elections to the greedy nature of the people close to former president John Mahama.
Addressing a press conference Monday in Accra, the spokesperson for the group Kojo Hamenya Keglo berated the wisdom behind the former president’s appointment of the likes of Kofi Adams, Omane Boamah, Sherry Aryettey, Stan Dobge and many others as the cog to push for his re-election bid.
“We want to know from JM [John Mahama] the wisdom in making Kofi Adams the [2016 campaign coordinator of the Mahama re-election bid],” he demanded as he described the appointment as the “the worst mistake” they had done as a party.
He said due to the various scandals that rocked the former president and his ministerial appointees “hard working party faithful” refused to associate themselves with the campaign to get Mahama re-elected.
He said the Communications Minister Omane Boamah instead of projecting the president would come and sit on public television saying the opposition leader then, Akufo-Addo cannot be president.
He said the whole 2016 campaign lacked clear cut message asking, “are massive infrastructure and changing lives and transforming Ghana campaign messages?”
He added: “The former president, his wife, brothers and sisters and greedy friends created all kinds of mushroom organs such us Celebrities for Mahama, Ladies for Mahama… setting aside party structures. How can you win elections with these?”
