Deputy Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has said most of the Ministers appointed by President John Mahama are more educated and better qualified than flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to him, Nana Akufo-Addo only holds a first degree in Economics.

The Deputy Minister’s statement is a direct response to Nana Addo’s statement that President Mahama’s ministerial appointments are not based on competence and qualifications but rather on party colourization, mediocrity. The NPP flagbearer further said most of the appointments are not based on merit.

Speaking with Kwame Adinkra, host of Atinka FM’s AM Drive on Thursday, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said Nana Addo is surrounded by bad political strategists who do not advise him to do constructive criticisms.

He said, "Akufo-Addo’s highest qualification is BSc in Economics" and therefore not better than the current crop of Ministers.

He compared Nana Addo to the current Education Minister, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, who is the first ever female to have headed the Cape Coast University, saying she is more qualified than Akufo-Addo.

He also mentioned Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, who is the substantive Minister for Communications, saying he has better education qualifications than the NPP leader.

The Deputy Communications Minister pointed out that Nana Addo’s first appointed aide when he became the Attorney-General was one Mr. Amful Kwakye, a family member, who was then facing trial on a drug-related offence.
