The Ghana Federation of the Disabled has accused President John Mahama of playing politics with their share of the Common Fund.

Two percent of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) has been allocated to the Disability Common Fund to be shared among persons with disability.

But the President in his State of the Nation Address this year announced that the Disability Common Fund would be increased from 2 to 3%.

This promise is yet to materialize, the Federation claims, describing it as a “political gimmick”.

President of the Federation, Yaw Ofori Debrah speaking on Onua FM’s Yen Sempa hosted by Kwame karikari explained that “it is a political gimmick because it did not go through the proper procedure”.

He said “it is still 2%. It has not been increased because it has not gone through Parliament for them to approve before implementation”.

Mr. Ofori Debrah regretted the fact that the government has not been able to implement the numerous good plans it has on paper for persons with disability.
