The host of Power 97.9 FM’s morning devotion, 'Tumi Mmre', Apostle Joseph A. Jackson has called on Ghanaians to rise and pray to avert death prophecy against running mate of former President John Mahama.

Even though Mr. Mahama is yet to announce who becomes his running mate for the 2020 elections, Founder and Leader of Glorious Word and Power Ministry International, Rev. Isaac Owusu Bempah prophesied at the eve of new year that any person who will be settled on is set to die.

But Apostle Jackson has declared one day fasting on 1st March, 2020 for all lovers, sympathizers of Mr. Mahama to join and pray to avert the “bad prophesy.”

“Please let us fast for JM this Sunday which is 1st March. I know many of you listening to me now are his supporters who love him,” he declared.

Apostle Jackson speaking on the Tumi Mmre show mentioned 2 Samuel 15:31 as the quotation for the prayers. In that Biblical story, King David had been told Ahithophel, who was his counselor and widely known for his sagacity, was among the conspirators with Absalom. So King David prayed, “Oh Lord, turn Ahithophel’s counsel into foolishness.”

Referring to that biblical lesson, Apostle Jackson said the fasting and prayers on Sunday would avert any bad omen some persons are wishing for the former president.

“Before he [Mahama] chooses his running mate, any counsel that will turn into a bad image for JM for him become foolish. Let’s pray for him because he can’t fight alone. The bad prophecies are too many; If he jokes, people will work against him and give him a bad name. People have travelled to India just because they want to give him a bad name so listeners let’s fast and pray from 6 am to 12 pm to support him,” Apostle Jackson disclosed.

Running Mate Fever

The National Democratic Congress (NDC), has disclosed that the party will announce a running mate for the party’s flagbearer this year.

Last year, National Chairman for the party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, disclosed that the party would only announce a running mate for the flagbearer during the election year.

Reacting to calls for the NDC to name its running mate on Accra-based Asempa FM, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said, ‘We don’t elect running mates outside election years; they are always elected during the election year so we will announce ours in 2020. I don’t see us lagging behind.”

Before Mr Mahama unveils his running mate, many are names that have popped up as persons the flagbearer is considering.

Among them are former Deputy BoG Boss, Dr. Johnson Asiama, Former Finance Minister Dr. Kwesi Botchwey, Former trades and Industry Minister Hannah Tetteh, Former Attorney General Marrietta Brew Appiah Oppong, Former Education Minister Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

The others are former Brong Ahafo Regional Minister and MP for Asunafo South, Hon. Eric Opoku, former GNPC Boss Alex Mould, former Finance Minister Kwabena Duffuor.
