Mahama transforming lives negatively – Konadu

A former first lady of Ghana Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has laughed off President John Mahama’s campaign tagline of ‘transforming lives for a better Ghana’.

According to her, there is nothing to show under the watch of Mahama to prove that the lives of Ghanaians have been transformed.

“You are transforming our lives into the negative. It’s not positive… We’re being killed in this country,” Nana Konadu told Starrfmonline.com.

“We are not interested in the nicety of who is smiling on TV. We are not interested in who is walking around and telling us that he is transforming our lives. Put your hands in your pockets and see if your life is being transformed. This is an indictment on our nation. And nobody is talking about it.

“Everybody is stressed. Not only are mistakes happening, but they are dissipating the funds of this country,” she added.

Mrs Rawlings said an NDP administration will “restore participatory democracy” in Ghana, which will empower Ghanaians to be bold to criticize the government of the day.

“We also want to ensure that probity and accountability is upheld… people talk about it but they have their hands in the national coffers. We have to be vocal and speak against all of these… Let’s all look at the individuals who are claiming they can change your lives. Analyse each one critically and take a firm decision against incompetence, abuse of power, corruption. Tell your family members enough is enough. Let’s vote them out and have Ghana get up to reality and progress,” the outspoken politician spewed.

Mrs Rawlings have declared her intention to contest the 2016 elections on the ticket of the NDP, having failed in her bid to challenge Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2012.
