Akwasi Addai aka ‘Odike’, founder and leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), says ex-President Mahama veered from the road of good leadership ahead of the 2016 elections.

According to him, he used to be a strong ally of Mr. Mahama but became passive when he realized that the ex-president was leading the country into an abyss due to bad leadership.

Odike stated that he loves Ghana so much therefore he decided not to be part of a government, which was clearly mismanaging the affairs of the state, which could have created problems for the citizenry.

“Mr. Mahama veered from the road of good leadership at the latter stages of his administration that is why I decided to leave his camp and also campaigned against him during the 2016 national elections.

“It is only a fool who will not change his mind when he/she realizes that the government that he/she is supporting is not delivering as the people expected”, Odike, who is very outspoken, stated.

According to the businessman cum politician, he supported Mr. Mahama during the 2012 elections, which Mr. Mahama and the NDC eventually won, because Mr. Mahama then had good intentions for the State.

Odike, who was speaking on Hello FM, stated that he is an honest person and so he later dumped Mr. Mahama and the NDC after he realized that Mr. Mahama was leading the country into huge problems.

The UPP leader, who supported President Akufo-Addo and the NPP to win the 2016 polls, said he was right in rooting for Nana Akufo-Addo, saying “he is on the right track in developing the country, so far”.

Odike said President Akufo-Addo policies and programmes have the potential of expediting the transformational process of the country, adding that the president is committed in properly developing the country.

He stated that he would continually support and defend President Akufo-Addo’s administration, urging the citizenry, notably those who wish to see Ghana transformed, to rally behind the NPP administration.
