The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has challenged President Akufo-Addo to a 1 kilometre walk following the successful completion of over 10 kilometre walk by former President John Dramani Mahama during the NDC's Unity Walk on Saturday.
The legislator, addressing some sympathizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the St. Johns Park in Bolgatanga after the Unity Walk on Saturday, May 5, 2018 asked the President to attempt a 1 kilometre walk if he has the level of energy and stamina Mr. Mahama demonstrated during their walk for unity.
Mr. Adongo in his welcome speech stated that voting former President Mahama out of power in past one and half years by Ghanaians meant throwing away the treasure that he was. He added that the NDC fraternity also lost a personality.
He was, however, quick to add that the return of Mr. Mahama, and his active participation in events of the NDC is the beginning of greater things for the party.
He said the show of resilience, energy, enthusiasm and stamina by Mr. Mahama and the party during the Unity Walk is clear manifestation that the NDC will not die but bounce back to glory in election 2020.
“On behalf of the party in the region, I will like to welcome all of you particularly our distinguished guest, his Excellency and forever Excellency and will be back Excellency, John Dramani Mahama…. Today is a very important day for the NDC family. This is the day we have seen what we lost over the last one and half years. Over the last one and half years, the people of Ghana have lost a treasure in John Dramani Mahama and the NDC has lost something we cannot find and it is a big privilege to see him. With the level of resilience and energy in the unity walk.
“And what you have seen signifies the resilience of the NDC. When they say the NDC will die, that is when the NDC germinates and today, you have seen the resilience, stamina of the NDC. With this stamina, nobody can stop the NDC in 2020 Isha Allahu,” Mr. Adongo said.
Speaking on the banking sector, Mr. Adongo said the inability of government to create an enabling environment for domestic banks to thrive has made Mobile Money a better choice in transacting business in Ghana. He said unlike the Mobile Money system, banks in Ghana are collapsing under the full glare and leadership of President Akufo-Addo.
“Today, when you have a mobile money account; when you have a vodaphone mobile money account, it will not collapse. When you have an MTN mobile money account it will not collapse. When you have Airtel mobile money account it is safe, when you have a bank account it is the worse and riskiest account to have,” he stated.
