NPP’s Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as ‘Chairman Wontumi’ says he has first-hand information about Former President John Dramani Mahama’s secret meeting in the Ashanti Region.

He was emphatic that, the immediate past president and some allies are planning to form a new National Democratic Congress [NDC] party which will sideline its original founder, Former President John Jerry Rawlings.

“I know about all his [President Mahama] meetings in Kumasi. They [NDC] don’t learn. What President Mahama is trying to do now is to form a new NDC to sideline Mr. Rawlings. But what they don’t know is that, the NDC is for the Rawlingses and there’s nothing they can do about that,” he said.

Former President John Dramani Mahama’s intention of contesting for the presidency again on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2020 is gathering momentum after he was alleged to have held several secret meeting in the Ashanti Region with some top associates within the ‘Umbrella’ family.

The venue of the said meeting, reportedly held Sunday evening, remains a mystery, as Mr. Mahama’s camp doesn’t want their potential opponents in the party to monitor their actions and strategies – but Chairman Wontumi in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ noted that he has been abreast about the meeting by close source.

To him, all attempts by the former president will fail including his intention contest for the presidency again in 2020.

“I can assure the NDC that, we [NPP] will beat them again if they present Mahama or anyone else as their candidate,” he told host Kwasi Aboagye.
