Mahama will carry the day in a fashionable manner - Ho Central MP

Member of Parliament for Ho Central in the Volta Region, Benjamin Kpodo has indicated that all things being equal, former President John Dramani Mahama, will win the National Democratic Congress presidential candidate race.

According to him, Mr Mahama is capable of garnering 99% of total votes in the Ho Central Constituency, and optimistic he would emerge victorious to lead the NDC to victory in the 2020 general elections.

“... His Excellency John Mahama will carry the day and in a very fashionable manner, there will not be any doubt”, he said when speaking to the media after casting his ballot.

He added that, “at least, if this polling station were the only one, I am sure that he will have about 99%”.

Mr Kpodo stated that the ex President’s popularity and zeal to develop the country during his tenure has made him the favorite candidate of the delegates.

He further stated that “now people are convinced they were decieved by the governing New Patriotic Party in 2016 and have now come to realize President John Mahama’s administration was better of, hence wants him to come back”, he said.



He said the party hierarchy in the constituency has abided by a directive to solely depend on the Police for security during the exercise to elect a candidate to lead the opposition NDC into the 2020 general elections.

Mr Kpodo said “I have always held the position that Ho Central constituency is a very peaceful place. We observe the rules as we’ve been given. I saw some of the boys who normally protect us, but they are in mufti and also participating like any other ordinary delegates”.



About 600 delegates as at about 11:30 am have already cast their ballot at the Ho Central Constituency centre set opposite the Evangelical Presbyterian Church Dela Cathedral, in Ho.



Dozens are still queued up waiting for their turn to vote for their preferred presidential candidate out of the 7 vying for the position.

About 23,216 delegates from 2,506 branches would participate in today’s exercise in the Volta Region, with about 1,400 delegates expected to vote in the Ho Central Constituency.
